Every summer Lemon
Bay Playhouse offers Children's Theatre Workshop - classes in acting and
theatre related activities - to children ages 7 - 14 in
the Englewood area. These classes run two-four weeks during July. Here are the details of the 2007 program:
Lemon Bay Playhouse Kids Rocked This Summer
This year was a first for Lemon Bay Playhouse – the kids performed a musical! “Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr.” was presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Based on the Emmy Award Winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series, this show features the familiar songs in a revue that is fun for children and educational too!
This musical program was directed by Jeff and Isabelle Michaels. Jeff has been performing professionally and in community theatre and dinner theatre in New York since 1970 and has performed in shows such as Oliver, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof and Godspell just to name a few. He has been directing Cabaret performances since 1998. Isabelle has assisted in Oliver with the Charlotte Players and performed in her church’s children's theatre.
The program was open to any child age 7 to 14 – every child had a part and all experience levels were welcomed. The cost for the camp was $80.00 per camper, which includes a t-shirt and a CD of the music. |
